Digital tokens can be used to attend races starting at the Monaco Grand Prix on May 28
Formula 1 ticket provider Platinum Group has introduced tickets in the form of NFTs, according to CoinDesk. The first event that you can get to is the Monaco Grand Prix, which takes place on May 28.
Tokens will be issued on the Polygon blockchain. In addition to entry to competitions, NFT tickets will give holders various bonuses, such as discounts on future races or participation in parties.
For sports fans, ease of signing in is key, said Eli Zerbib, co-founder of Bary, a Web3 token company involved in creating the token. According to him, NFT tickets just provide this simplicity, they offer transparency, traceability, convenient purchase, personalization, as well as great audience engagement, which the company itself needs.
The use of blockchain technology in sports already goes beyond selling event tickets or issuing fan tokens and NFT collections.
So, at the end of May, for the first time in Russia, the results of sports competitions were summed up in electronic form using blockchain technology. At the triathlon competitions in Almetievsk, sports judges tested the possibility of saving the final protocol of the competition on the blockchain platform and distributing the results among the participants.
