Asia’s largest low-cost airline, AirAsia, uses blockchain technology to reward its customers.
AirAsia Chief Financial Officer Raymond Berja said his firm’s employees are working on integrating blockchain into the service’s user reward system, whereby people can book hotel rooms and buy plane tickets with earned points.
I think that blockchain technology will create a more stable platform with the necessary level of flexibility. This project is currently under development at our headquarters in Malaysia,” Berja said.

According to Raymond, the programmers have not yet chosen a specific network, on the basis of which they will launch a new scoring system. Most likely, preference will be given to a private blockchain developed by a commercial company with a highly professional team. AirAsia can use, for example, the Corda network created by R3.
AirAsia customers earn points by spending money not only on travel, but also on various goods, financial services and accommodation. To receive bonuses and access to exclusive offers, you need to download the AirAsia Super App and register in it.
