South Korean gaming giant Nexon has decided to use the Polygon blockchain network for its popular digital universe. Thus, MapleStory Universe will launch a private supernet on Polygon technology, and then the release of a new gameplay will be initiated.
Representatives of the gaming studio Nexon said that such a decision was made after many months of market research and long negotiations. The Polygon Super Grid is required to support in-game Non-Fungible Token (NFT) offerings in MapleStory Universe. With unique capabilities, Polygon will allow Nexon to customize the blockchain to meet the complex requirements of online gaming.
The developers of the South Korean project recalled that MapleStory Universe already had 180 million registered users and became one of the most successful games under the auspices of Nexon. Users bought and sold items from each other using MapleStory’s internal currency. The new Polygon Super Grid will allow gamers to earn and collect collectible NFT digital items as they play to unlock various benefits and goodies in the ecosystem. Thanks to them, the characters will be able to upgrade and get a unique experience.
The creators of the project said that the Polygon supernet is a customizable, modular and extensible blockchain stack. Developers can use it to create custom networks for existing applications.
