K-pop star G-Dragon has launched an NFT on the OpenSea marketplace. The project was organized jointly with the Fandom Studio content monetization platform based on BNB Chain. The South Korean singer announced the start of sales of a collection of non-fungible tokens.
The ‘PEACEMINUSONE Archive’ collection consists of 13,444 NFT puzzle pieces that make up G-Dragon’s picture titled ‘2016 Archive’. Items were minted at 0.27 BNB ($88) each, according to OpenSea. Many analysts said that given the popularity of Korean music in the world, their value should definitely rise in the near future.
The performer himself said that he was glad to reach a new level of interaction with his own fans. According to him, this will attract a new audience to the musician’s work. NFT token holders will also be able to receive concert tickets, early access to merchandise, and physical certificates signed by G-Dragon. This is stated on the OpenSea website.
G-Dragon is a Korean singer and rapper who debuted on stage in 2006 and rose to prominence as the leader of K-pop Big Bang, one of the best-selling groups in South Korea. As of March 22, 2023, he has over 8.4 million followers on Twitter and 22 million on Instagram.
Major Korean music labels including HYBE, which runs the K-pop group BTS, as well as SM, YG, JYP, and Cube, have previously also announced their plans related to NFT and the metaverse. In November 2022, K-pop group SEVENTEEN unveiled their own virtual universe as part of their Asian concert tour in Japan.
A month earlier, HYBE launched the NFT MOMENTICA platform in partnership with Korean blockchain company Dunamu. Already this year, the organization released a series of NFTs featuring their artists including SEVENTEEN, Enhypen and LE SSERAFIM.
