The collaboration between the companies is intended to provide new developers with “exit to the crypto market and give them access to a convenient ecosystem.”
As part of the project, Immutable is going to use Polygon’s zero-knowledge proof technology. Based on it, a platform for game developers will be built.
“We are building an Ethereum-centric gaming ecosystem that will take Web3 to the mainstream and digitally own millions of people around the world,” said Immutable President and Co-Founder Robbie Ferguson.
The head of Polygon Labs, Ryan Wyatt, noted that the companies’ technologies will allow them to focus on creating a quality game, rather than direct resources to develop a network for it.
It is expected that the testnet will be launched at the end of the second quarter of 2023, and the interfaces for running on zkEVM are already available.
MATIC will be the “voting token” and Immutable native coin (IMX) will be the “primary gas payment currency.”
According to Ferguson, the platform’s potential success means that “digital property rights in the game are the norm” and they belong to “users, not giant corporations.”
At the time of writing, the IMX token is trading at $1.25, down 13.35% overnight.

Amid the announcement of the partnership, journalist Colin Wu announced the transfer of 1.5 million IMX to the Binance exchange from an address that was previously suspected of insider trading. According to Wu, the potential profit of a user can be as high as $750,000.

In February 2023, Immutable introduced a cryptocurrency wallet targeted at Web3 gamers. The Passport project is also used for player profile management and authentication.
Recall that in March, Polygon introduced a domain name service developed in collaboration with Unstoppable Domains.
