Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has come up with a surprise legislative initiative. He calls for a ban on the use of CBDC as legal tender in his state.
In a press release, the official said the move would protect ordinary users from the reckless adoption of a centralized digital dollar, which would hinder the development of the innovation sector and encourage government surveillance of citizens. The proposed amendments would include a complete ban on the use of CBDCs in the state.
It is noteworthy that we are talking not only about the digital dollar, but also the CBDC of other world central banks. Rhona DeSantis stressed that in addition to privacy concerns, the Fed’s digital currency would hit local banks and credit unions hard.
The official at the same time called on the governors of other US states to openly come up with a similar initiative.
Earlier, the editors of Crypto.ru informed: there was information that the Belgian financial regulator (FSMA) plans to introduce legislative amendments regarding the advertising of virtual currencies in countries. It was noted that all information about crypto companies should be as accurate as possible and reflect truthful information. At the same time, consumers must be made aware of potential risks.
Corporations that pursue an active marketing policy will need to undergo mandatory registration in the FSMA registry. This suggests that if the potential coverage of the target audience exceeds 25,000 people, then the financial regulator must approve the company.
Recent studies by the agency have shown that the vast majority of users of digital assets in the country are aimed at making quick and easy profits. Most of the investors in this group were men (about 80%).
