The founder of the Cardano network, Charles Hoskinson, has once again been targeted by critics who claim that the 2021 national identity agreement between the blockchain and the Ethiopian government has been cancelled.
Critics say the government switched to its digital identity system after becoming frustrated with the Cardano Input Output Hong Kong (IOHK) development team being too slow.
Charles Hoskinson called these statements defamatory, stating that the Ethiopian government is still using the Cardano ID solution. At the same time, he acknowledged that along with his decision, there are different identification systems in Ethiopia, since they were not set a task with national coverage.
The deal with the Ministry of Education did not involve a nationwide identification system. This is a student credential management system. It can be connected to the identification system or upgraded to it.
In addition, Hoskinson said that the system developed by his company will reach one million students by the end of 2023, although according to the original plans by the end of 2021, the number of users was supposed to reach five million.
