The National Agency for Advanced Projects (NAPP) of Uzbekistan has unblocked access to BestChange.ru, an aggregator of crypto exchanges, the Digital Rights Center legal agency reported.
Lawyers from the Digital Rights Center (DCR) represented the interest of BestChenge and applied to the NAPP several times with a request to cancel the blocking. Access to the resource was limited in August based on a 2018 presidential decree. According to the document, from January 1, 2023, citizens of the country and resident companies of Uzbekistan will be able to buy, sell and change crypto assets only through local operators. However, before this date, trading on foreign platforms is also prohibited.
Considering that only the UzNEX site, controlled by the authorities, remained operating on the territory of Uzbekistan, a problem arose: there are practically no local platforms, and even such companies as Binance or FTX, which are friendly with regulators, cannot work.
DRC specialists managed to convince the agency responsible for overseeing the crypto industry in Uzbekistan that “the activity of the aggregator falls under the exception and its work should not be limited.” Since October 21, BestChange.ru has been excluded from the list of banned sites along with the cryptocurrency exchange platform, and access to the aggregator has now been restored.
“We are very pleased that NAPP is as open to dialogue as possible and is doing everything so that Uzbekistan, like Kazakhstan, becomes a fintech driver in the Central Asian region. Both countries are now taking leaps and bounds in terms of legalizing crypto and integrating it into the digital economy,” says Sargis Darbinyan, DRC Managing Partner.
Recall that on June 30, the bt-crow.com website also ceased to be available to users of most major Russian providers due to blocking by Roskomnadzor. As early as July 5, the editors of bt-crow.com managed to get the decision of the RKN canceled. DRC is now representing bt-crow.com by helping to overturn the court decision that caused the block.
