Alexey Pertsev, the developer of the Tornado Cash mixer, who was arrested by law enforcement agencies in the Netherlands in August 2022, must spend at least two more months in prison. The specialist is accused of facilitating money laundering.
On Thursday, September 29, the Dutch Court of Appeal rejected the request of Alexei Pertsev, as reported by his wife Ksenia Malik. The prosecutor’s office has not yet given official comments on this matter.
The developer has been in custody for more than seven weeks since his arrest in Amsterdam on August 10, 2022. The detention of Alexey Pertsev coincided with the decision of the US Securities and Exchange Commission to add Tornado Cash and 44 associated wallets to the sanctions list.
According to Ksenia Malik, the Dutch prosecutor’s office plans to seize Pertsev’s property and sell it at auction. It is noteworthy that the developer’s car was confiscated on the first day of the arrest of the developer himself. The crypto community condemned the actions of the Dutch government. Malik organized a demonstration and took part in it.
According to enthusiasts, Pertsev should not be held criminally responsible for developing open source code, regardless of how it is used by criminals.
Earlier, the editors of Crypto.ru informed: the former candidate for the US Congress, David Gochstein, spoke positively about the Terra Classic roadmap. It is noteworthy that in the past the specialist has repeatedly criticized this project and called it a “lottery”. The expert wrote on Twitter that he plans to invest $500 in the LUNC coin in order to test its potential in practice. The Terra Classic cryptocurrency is actively growing in price, even taking into account the conflict between the law enforcement agencies of South Korea and the head of Terraform Labs, Do Kwon.
