Overall NFT sales are down significantly from the previous year, but collectors are taking advantage of the bear market and the falling price of ETH to secure relatively lucrative deals on desired digital art.
So, today an investor purchased CryptoPunks NFT #2924 for almost $4.5 million in ETH (3,300 ETH) — the largest single NFT sale in recent memory and the fourth largest for CryptoPunks of all time.
CryptoPunk #2924 was sold by a well-known NFT collector under the pseudonym seedphrase, although it is not immediately clear who the buyer was. This particular CryptoPunks NFT was last sold in November 2020 for 150 ETH – which, at the time of the sale, was the equivalent of $71,400.
CryptoPunk #2924 is one of 24 monkeys in the entire CryptoPunks collection, which includes 10,000 unique NFT profile images, and is ranked as the 38th “rarest” NFT by the Rarity Tools project. CryptoPunks sales to date have generated nearly $2.4 billion in secondary trading volume.
