Representatives of the company Ooki DAO are discussing with the crypto community the response to the lawsuit by the CFTC. The regulator charged the organization with illegal activities related to the management of the bZx trading platform. Earlier, the leaders of the exchange paid a fine of $250,000.
Ooki DAO members condemn the counterclaim against the CFTC and intend to raise additional funds to challenge the complaint from the US department. One possible avenue would be to apply for Gitcoin to raise money for legal protection. The key idea is to get massive support in the crypto community. The possibility of releasing a line of NFTs is also being discussed, with the proceeds from sales going to fundraising.
The legal action by the CFTC caused a lot of backlash among Ooki DAO users. Many experts expressed concern about the approach of the US department and the possible negative consequences for the entire segment of decentralized autonomous organizations.
Previously, the Crypto.ru editors reported that European standards for combating the financing of terrorism and money laundering in the future may extend to the DAO, DeFI and NFT segments.
Experts suggest that these amendments will also affect the direction of Metaverse.
If the norms are adopted, then the relevant organizations will have to follow the AML regulations when working with transactions with a volume of more than 1000 euros. Experts expressed the opinion that legislative amendments need to go through a number of procedures before they enter into legal force. The European Parliament is expected to present a final report on AML and CFT regulation at the end of 2022.
