Representatives of the South Korean project Klaytn said that they decided to compensate for the payment for gas and for the execution of contracts for gaming decentralized applications created on the basis of this platform. Such a statement was made during the international technology conference Token 2049, which was held in Singapore.
The developers explained that gas fees are a key stumbling block to the adoption of cryptocurrencies. They noted that sometimes fees on networks like Ethereum reach over $3,000 during network congestion. This discourages potential users from using the network and encourages them to look for cheaper alternatives.
Thus, disabling the commission feature in gaming projects based on Klaytn will eliminate a critical problem for blockchain startups when attracting new users. From now on, customers will not have to purchase native tokens in order to pay for gas.
Under this rebate program, select gaming companies will be eligible for 100% fee refunds starting January 2022. The maximum amount will be up to $100 thousand in KLAY for 1 month.
Representatives have not yet begun to name the specific names of startups that will fall under the initiative. The campaign was funded by the Klaytn Growth Fund. This organization invests in promising startups built on the basis of Klaytn. Previously, management has already allocated about $20 million for blockchain research at Asian universities.
This decision was one of the first steps in a large-scale plan by Klaytn executives to expand the blockchain company internationally. The firm has expressed a desire to build an extensive user base outside of the Korean market.
Earlier, the editors of Crypto.ru reported: Klaytn management talked about signing partnership agreements with 5 friendly firms at once.
