Cryptocurrency exchange Kraken has announced that it has received the status of a “diamond sponsor” of the American non-profit organization against human trafficking (ATII).
ATII is engaged in detecting facts of human trafficking and tracking criminal proceeds. Data on the passage of funds through payment systems is transmitted to law enforcement agencies, financial institutions, technology companies and cryptocurrency exchanges for countermeasures.
The sponsorship will allow ATII to provide training to professionals, as well as continue to provide law enforcement and financial institutions with the information needed to prevent the use of digital assets in human trafficking.
Ian Mynot, senior manager of Kraken’s financial intelligence unit, said that in addition to the $100,000 cash donation, the exchange will provide technology support to ATII to investigate and prevent digital financial crime.
“Kraken’s partnership with ATII will provide us with data on the illegal use of cryptoassets on the dark web so that our financial intelligence team can better identify and respond to potential criminal activity,” Minot said.
Kraken co-founder Jesse Powell has announced his intention to step down as CEO. His position will be taken by the exchange’s COO Dave Ripley.
