Representatives of the Slope mobile wallet for storing cryptocurrencies offered hackers to return the cryptocurrency stolen from the company’s customers.
Experts found that during a cyberattack on Solana (SOL) blockchain users, unknown people managed to steal digital assets from 10,551 crypto storages. Victims of cybercriminals lost USD Coin (USDC), SOL, Tether (USDT) and several other stablecoins worth $5.9 million.
Slope employees are calling on attackers to hand over 90% of the stolen assets by 16:30 Moscow time on August 7. If they agree to this deal, the company will curtail the investigation of the incident, otherwise the hackers are threatened with criminal liability for the theft of cryptocurrencies.
According to employees of the Solana Foundation, the wallets were hacked after the criminals obtained the personal data of Slope users through a device monitoring service. In this regard, the developers of the application asked customers to create new crypto-stores and change seed phrases.
