Due to a bug in the system, confidential information was shared with a third party. Protocol representatives claim the issue was resolved before anyone suffered a loss.
The Near Protocol revealed a leak of user data that is used to restore access to the wallet. The project report claims that the problem was fixed before it harmed anyone.
On the official website of the project, users can add options for restoring access to their wallets by adding phone numbers or email to their accounts. Due to an error in the system, the information was passed on to a third party.
The company assured that they were able to quickly remove third-party access to data and prevent a threat to the security of funds or the privacy of users.

The problem became known on June 6, and security audit firm Hacxyk discovered it and received a reward of $50,000 for this. However, the Near team has not provided details since then.
The project added that they no longer allow users to create accounts using email or SMS to restore access. Those whose data could be compromised were recommended in the project to “change the keys”. An account in Near can have several sets of keys with different levels of access.
