The Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation sent proposals to the Ministry of Finance on the regulation of cryptocurrencies and mining, writes Gazeta.Ru with reference to the press service of the department.
The ministry proposed to set a threshold for the use of electricity for individual miners. The details of the calculation have not yet been developed.
The Ministry of Economic Development also came up with an initiative to connect mining farms to energy sources at reduced rates. According to representatives of the department, such tariffs should operate regardless of the point of connection.
The ministry proposed to allow cryptocurrency mining activities in regions with a steady surplus of electricity – Irkutsk, Murmansk, Novosibirsk regions, Khabarovsk and Krasnoyarsk territories, as well as Khakassia.
Recall that the Ministry of Energy proposed to introduce regional quotas for mining, and the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Construction of the Russian Federation – to establish an experimental legal regime for the production of cryptocurrencies.
The head of the State Duma Committee on the Financial Market, Anatoly Aksakov, believes that mining in the Russian Federation can only be allowed for legal entities, while the Ministry of Finance talks about the senselessness of banning household mining.
