Mining activity in Russia should be allowed only to legal entities. This was stated by the head of the State Duma Committee on the financial market, Anatoly Aksakov, in an interview with Izvestia.
At the same time, he believes that the extraction of cryptocurrencies should be carried out in energy-abundant regions.
“Only legal entities should be engaged in mining – it should be a regulated business,” the deputy noted.
Aksakov also proposed to regulate the taxation of cryptocurrencies by analogy with the “financial segment”:
“I believe that in the case of mining, taxation should be close to what is established in the market for goods and services: VAT and income tax should be introduced.”
According to the deputy’s expectations, the document will be submitted to the State Duma in May.
Recall that the definition of mining and the basic mechanisms for its regulation are spelled out in the bill of the Ministry of Finance “On digital currency”.
In early April, the revised draft law was sent to the government.
Earlier, the Ministry of Energy announced that it would be more expedient to allocate sites for mining at the regional rather than the federal level. At the same time, Aleksey Yakovlev, a representative of the Ministry of Finance, said that it was senseless to ban cryptocurrency mining at home.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Construction of the Russian Federation proposed to establish an experimental legal regime for the production of cryptocurrencies.
