The past month has been one of the best times to move Ethereum (ETH) economically without spending huge network fees. On March 12, 2022, Ethereum network fees fell to an annual low of $5.98 per transaction after hitting a January 10 high of $52.
Transaction fee data shows that from mid-January to mid-March, the fee decreased by 88.49%. However, since the low 22 days ago, Ethereum network fees have increased to an average of $19.58 per transfer.
In the early days of April, the average Ethereum network fee was 0.0056 Ether, the median was 0.0021 ETH or $7.47. The average fee hit a low of $2.39 per transfer on March 11, 2022, with a high of $29 on January 10.
Along with the growth of commissions in Ethereum at the first level (L1), the commissions of the second level (L2) also increased. Loopring currently offers the lowest L2 fee of $0.15 per transfer. The token swap cost through Loopring is $0.87. On Sunday, April 3, the L1 token swap cost was $25.67 per transaction.
Zksync offers regular Ethereum transfers at $0.21 per L2, while token swap transactions will cost $0.52 per trade. Polygon Hermez charges $0.25 for a simple transfer of Ether, Boba Network charges $0.79.
The Arbitrum One L2 fee is currently equivalent to $0.81 and the cost of trading tokens through Arbitrum is $1.12. Optimism fees are $1.28, swapping ETH through the Optimism L2 infrastructure will cost $1.89. Users can also use the Aztec Network, where the current ETH transfer fee is $2.48.
