The National Bank of Ukraine received the first tranche of $1 million from donations collected by Solana enthusiasts around the world. This was reported to ForkLog by representatives of the blockchain project.

As part of the Aid for Ukraine initiative, fundraising in SOL tokens is carried out by Everstake, FTX, Solana Labs, the Metaplex Foundation and the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine.

The assets, through the mediation of the National Bank, will go to support the armed forces and the humanitarian aid program in the face of Russian aggression.

Users can provide financial assistance in SOL, USDC, and even NFT. The official Solana wallet of the initiative is 66pJhhESDjdeBBDdkKmxYYd7q6GUggYPWjxpMKNX39KV.

As part of Aid for Ukraine, more than $1.4 million was raised, of which $375,000 was contributed by Everstake, based in the country.

The conversion of funds to fiat is provided by the FTX bitcoin exchange.

“Incredibly excited and honored to be working with Mintsifra, Everstake and others to support cryptocurrency donations for Ukraine,” said FTX Founder and CEO Sam Bankman-Fried.

The initiative has become part of the programs to help the military and the people of Ukraine from the crypto community. As of March 6, the total amount of donations in digital assets for the country exceeded $82 million.

“Raising funds through cryptocurrencies is critical for Ukraine because it allows us to instantly receive donations from people around the world, as well as expand the political agenda about the Russian invasion, raise global awareness and strengthen our support,” said Alexander Bornyakov, Deputy Minister of Digital Development.

Recall that the team behind the Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT collection donated over $1 million to Ukraine. Before that, the project community had collected a similar amount.
