The Grimacecoin token from a McDonald’s tweet has risen in price by more than 259,000% in a matter of hours after launch.
On January 25, McDonald’s responded on Twitter to a series of ironic posts about crypto investors forced to look for jobs online amid Bitcoin’s correction.
“How are you, people who run crypto accounts on Twitter,” wrote representatives of McDonald’s.
Industry representatives began to respond to the tweet, including Elon Musk. He also mentioned his favorite meme-cryptocurrency:
“I’ll eat the Happy Meal on TV if McDonald’s starts accepting Dogecoin.”
The company responded with a response offer to Tesla to sell electric cars for the fictitious Grimacecoin token.

The Grimace mascot was one of the inhabitants of the fictional world of McDonaldland that the network used for marketing from the 1970s to the 1990s. The clumsy purple character represented the side of evil there and stole drinks and cocktails from children.
The McDonald’s joke spawned a wave of coin launches under a fictitious name.
The GrimaceCoin (Grimace) token powered by Binance Smart Chain (BSC) started trading on SushiSwap at $0.008 and soon peaked at $2.08, up over 259,000%.
At the time of writing, the asset is in the $1.3 mark, with a market capitalization of approximately $1.4 million.

Cryptocurrency Grimace Coin (GRIM), launched on Ethereum, has risen in price by approximately 90,500% at the moment, from a starting $0.0000075 to $0.0068.
Only in the BSC network there are already tokens with the names Grimace, grimacecoin and others.
Recall that in December 2021, crypto enthusiasts released a series of meme-cryptocurrencies after a joke by US Congressman Brad Sherman about the non-existent Mongoose Coin.
