On January 13, an unknown bitcoin miner with a hardware capacity of 116 TH / s included block 718 379 in the blockchain. This was announced by Kon Kolivas, administrator of the CKPool pool to which the devices are connected.

Congratulations to yet another small miner solving a block solo with only 116TH on https://t.co/UWgBvLkDqc ! They haven’t even been mining a week with this hashrate! https://t.co/VSyyDUFQY9

    – Dr. Con Kolivas (@ckpooldev) January 13, 2022

According to Colivas, the miner joined the pool just two days ago. He noted that, taking into account the hash rate, the chance of CKPool to find a new block was 1 in 20, for a particular user the probability was much lower – 1 in 6000.

Twitter suggested that the bitcoin code “has an internal preference for individual miners.” Kolivas refuted this hypothesis.

Ultimately all big miners are made up of thousands of individual miners, so alas not. Also the long term history of https://t.co/UWgBvLkDqc shows no more luck than average compared to any other pool.

“Ultimately all big miners are made up of thousands of individual miners, so alas, no. In addition, in its long history, CKPool has on average been no more fortunate than any other pool, ”he wrote.

Recall that on January 11, a single miner with a hardware capacity of 126 TH / s mined a block of bitcoin, having received the 6.25 BTC reward provided for by the protocol. Its hardware is also connected to the CKPool.
