The money received from the mining of cryptocurrencies is used for the development of the criminal business, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Krasnoyarsk Territory said
Cryptocurrency miners use the money received from their activities “for the development of the criminal business.” This opinion was expressed by the deputy head of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Krasnoyarsk Territory Ruslan Severin, writes the network edition “TVK Krasnoyarsk”.
According to Severin, money from cryptocurrency mining “can” also be used “to finance extremist activities.” At the same time, according to the calculations of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Krasnoyarsk Territory, in 2021 in two months the miners were able to extract about RUB30 million. Severin did not specify what period of time he was talking about. He also did not explain what percentage of the money received from mining goes to finance extremist activities.
“We are definitely worried about this, because we understand that people get in this way. [через майнинг] profit and cash. And these are quite large amounts – in 2 months [майнеры] produced about 30 million rubles, ”he said.
Recall that in mid-October 2021, the head of the Irkutsk region warned of an increase in electricity consumption due to the increased activity of black cryptocurrency miners. The head of the region, Igor Kobzev, believes that the activity of miners requires containment with a simultaneous outstripping growth in the volume of investments in the power grid complex of the region.
To reduce the load, Kobzev urged to consider the establishment of regulatory norms for the mining of cryptocurrencies. According to him, one of the options may be the introduction of “additional groups for the differentiation of energy tariffs for the population.” However, the timing of the innovations is still unknown.
