The CEO of Devere Group, an independent financial advisory and asset management company, predicted earlier this week that three more countries will accept Bitcoin as legal tender in 2022.
His forecast is more optimistic than the words of the President of El Salvador, said the day before. El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele predicted that two more countries will accept BTC as legal tender this year.
“I am confident that young, innovative President Nayib Bukele is right that other countries will accept Bitcoin as legal tender in 2022,” Green said, stressing:
“But I would go even further. I believe there may be three more countries that will follow El Salvador into the digital age. “
“This is because low-income countries have long suffered from the fact that their currencies are weak and extremely vulnerable to market changes, which provokes runaway inflation,” he said.
Devere CEO added: “By adopting cryptocurrency as legal tender, these countries immediately receive money that does not depend on market conditions in their own economies or directly on the country’s economy.”
Green also noted that cryptocurrencies can help “expand financial inclusion for individuals and businesses” in developing countries. Devere’s boss concluded:
“Due to their dependence on remittances, among other factors, other countries, including Panama, Guatemala and Honduras, can also accept Bitcoin.”
