Norton 360 antivirus users accused developers of unauthorized mining of cryptocurrencies on their devices
Antivirus company Norton 360 has implemented a cryptocurrency mining function during standby mode. However, according to the Digital Trends resource, antivirus often mines without any permission from users. In addition, it is extremely difficult to get rid of innovations.
It is reported that the miner is installed during the installation process, if the user does not uncheck the corresponding box. You can remove the innovation only by completely removing the antivirus and cleaning the registry.
The developers position the built-in miner as a passive income for users. However, in fact, the cryptocurrency is stored in the wallets of the company itself, and the commission is 15%. However, Norton Crypto is not compatible with all operating systems. Owners of a video card from NVIDIA with a memory capacity of at least 6 GB based on Windows 7 and newer may be targeted for “forced” mining. The miner does not support macOS or Windows 10 S systems.

In mid-June, the editorial staff of BeInCrypto reported that Russia had overtaken Thailand and Peru in the list of states vulnerable to cryptocurrency cyberattacks. As ESET specialists found out, 8.9% of crypto attacks were recorded in Russia in the first half of 2021. At the same time, in Thailand and Peru, 5.6% and 5.3% of attacks were recorded, respectively. Hidden mining is still a popular attack method.
Google Cloud users were also hit by hidden miners. According to Google Cybersecurity Action Team analysts, almost 90% of Google Cloud hacks are aimed at mining cryptocurrencies. Hidden miners use the cloud infrastructure to mine various cryptocurrencies, including the green bitcoin chia (XCH).
