Samsung seems to be completely immersed in blockchain technology and ready for the future. Based on the announcements at the CES conference held in Las Vegas on January 3, 2022, Samsung’s plans are all about making the most of blockchain technology.
Accordingly, Samsung plans to use blockchain-driven technology to mitigate and combat climate change.
Samsung will plant 2 million trees
Samsung officially announced at CES in Las Vegas on January 3, 2022 that it plans to plant about two million mangroves. In addition, Samsung says it will complete this climate change project during April 2022.
The company also said it is partnering with Veritree. Veritree is a global blockchain solutions provider focused on environmental protection projects. Veritree will allow Samsung to track the total planting of these two million mangroves and literally know if each one is being planted.
Also, according to a tweet posted by Sidney Vollmer of the Cardano Foundation, tech giant Samsung will now have access to Cardano as part of its recent partnership with blockchain landing management system Veritree
The ideologies of the tech giant
Samsung’s head of corporate sustainability, Mark Newton, said that investments in technologies that are largely based on natural projects are necessary to combat climate change, and mangroves are best at helping to drastically reduce atmospheric CO2 levels.
In addition, including the mangrove plantation project, Samsung also announced its plans to release a new line of smart TVs as well as integration with Non-Fungible Token (NFT).
Cardano-Veritree Partnership
Veritree reforestation verification records will be stored on the Cardano blockchain. The technology allows data from planting sites to be verified and each individual donation linked to the area of land it helped restore.
Last year, the Cardano Foundation partnered with Veritree to launch its Initial Tree Offering (ITO). Users can donate 1 ADA token to receive 1 tree token representing one tree. At the time of publication, ITO had raised enough donations to plant 553,900 trees.
Users who donate at least 500 ADA will receive digital landing certificates as well as NFTree Art. Users who shell out for 100,000 ADA tokens will be able to receive “unique” NFTree art as well as their name on the card.
According to the roadmap presented by Veritree, the tree planting sessions are scheduled to continue until the end of 2022.
Ultimately, Veritree plans to plant a billion trees by 2030.
