Vitalik Buterin analyzed in a series of tweets his own predictions published in the Ethereum White Paper of 2013 and articles of 2015. By his own admission, the discoverer of the topic of altcoins was right about abstract things, but he was wrong in assessing the complexity of technologies.
Seven years ago, Buterin sincerely believed that before the transition of Ethereum to PoS, only six months or a year remained, and now he ridiculed himself for these views.
The complexity of development is still forcing the team to postpone the launch date of version 2.0. However, Vitalik Buterin especially emphasized his unwavering commitment to the 2017 thesis, about the cost of crypto transactions not exceeding five cents.
Ethereum 2.0 will hit these metrics through sharding and validation using zero knowledge proof. The introduction of ZK-SNARKS technology will allow maintaining the principle of network decentralization, despite the use of a centralized infrastructure for issuing blocks.
Support for the idea of Bitcoin Cash was also a misconception of those years. Buterin tweeted how he sees the split of the Bitcoin blockchain now. The miners participating in this process were united by protest sentiments, but did not have long-term development goals.
The increase in the BTC block was justified, but a short-term measure. The founder of Ethereum noted that he realized the dead end of this path in time, applying this principle on his own blockchain only partially, without jeopardizing the stability and security of the network.
Vitalik Buterin reminded subscribers of his discovery of new principles of investment search. Ethereum was created with funds collected through ICOs. Startups still issue tokens in the same way to attract venture capital investments.
The popularity of stablecoins was also predictable for Buterin, as was the high interest in cryptocurrencies in countries with a totalitarian regime. But the appearance of the format of indivisible ERC-721 tokens came as a complete surprise, NFT became the basis of the virtual games economy, an integral part of digital art and sports.
