A court in Saratov found a former traffic police officer who was mining in the workplace guilty of abuse of office. This was reported in the local department of the Investigative Committee.

The ex-policeman was fined 30,000 rubles and banned from holding positions in the civil service in the Russian law enforcement system for two years.

According to the case file, from December 2020 to July 2021, a traffic police officer placed mining equipment at the police station. Damage from illegally consumed electricity amounted to 231,000 rubles. The convict compensated this amount.

The policeman was fired “for committing a misdemeanor defaming the honor of an employee of the internal affairs bodies.”

Recall that during the search, law enforcement officers found two ASIC miners, a Wi-Fi router and three power supplies. The ex-policeman admitted his guilt.
