According to Valery Lyakh, director of the department for countering unfair practices of the Bank of Russia, the organizers of financial pyramids use cryptocurrencies to avoid responsibility.
During the release of Tinkoff Private Talks, Valery Lyakh emphasized that cryptocurrencies are not regulated in Russia, and fraudsters use digital assets to stay unnoticed for longer and avoid liability.
“Now many pyramids, trying to avoid additional responsibility, just accept money exclusively through cryptocurrency,” said Lyakh. “Besides, cryptocurrencies are very easy to work with.”
He also stressed that there are no cryptocurrency exchanges on the territory of Russia. All sites where Russians trade are registered abroad. And, in the event of any problems, the regulator will not be able to protect the interests of citizens.
Earlier it was reported that on the sidelines of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation there is a discussion of the possibility of a complete ban on the purchase of cryptocurrencies for Russian citizens. However, we are talking about the purchase of new assets – no one is going to confiscate the already purchased cryptocurrencies.
