The year 2021 was marked by an increase in interest in “meme” cryptocurrencies. They were invented as a joke almost eight years ago, however, now there is another rise. This happened thanks to the support of Elon Musk. Moreover, other similar currencies appeared, in particular, Shiba Inu. Interest in them from crypto investors has grown to such an extent that Dogecoin and Shiba Inu were in the top 10 last month.

Experts expressed their opinion about what awaits the “meme” tokens in the future. Analyst Nikita Zuborev is sure that the demand for such coins depends on the interest in the market as a whole. As long as there is a news background, tokens are discussed in the media and social networks, the dynamics are also growing. Therefore, he concludes that popularity will increase until the market enters a prolonged phase of stagnation. Nikita Zuborev is also sure that there is no point in buying at the moment when the correction takes place, since after the end of this trend, the capital from such coins goes into more serious cryptocurrencies. Comic tokens, on the other hand, increase their value in a second wave after the growth of BTC.

According to the representative of Crypterium, Vladimir Gorbunov, those market participants who do not have significant experience and look only at the price and percentage of growth of the coin, become a kind of “cannon fodder” when promoting a cryptocurrency. This is because such tokens are artificially saturated with volumes. In this regard, the expert recommends refraining from buying such assets because of the too high risk.

According to Anton Kravchenko, the main risk for “meme” tokens is the lack of utility and the fact that they are purchased exclusively to earn money on HYIP. He is confident that the creation of such cryptocurrencies does not require serious costs and business building. Therefore, he also recommends refraining from buying.

Based on the above, we can conclude that the future of “meme” tokens in the long term is seen as very vague.
