According to Kommersant, over the past year, the demand for video cards and ASIC miners on Russian ad sites and marketplaces has grown 14 times.

According to the publication, the average cost of a mining farm was 117,900 rubles. Interestingly, the growth in supply practically does not lag behind demand. For example, on Avito, the supply of ASIC miners has increased 13 times year-on-year. Bitmain’s Antminer devices remain the most popular. Users began to be interested in other brands of equipment as well – Whatsminer miners began to search 23 times more often.

Similar statistics on the Ozon platform. Sales of equipment for the production of cryptocurrencies in pieces increased 13 times over the year, and in monetary terms – 14 times.

The leaders in the purchase of mining equipment were, as expected, Moscow and St. Petersburg. Interestingly, Krasnodar Territory, Tatarstan and Sverdlovsk Region are also among the leaders, and these regions cannot boast of the lowest electricity tariffs.

The growth in demand for ASIC miners is not surprising – video cards have been in short supply for the second year already. A global shortage of semiconductor wafers and a supply crisis led to the fact that in ten months, sales of video cards in pieces fell by 15.8% year-on-year. At the same time, in monetary terms, the growth amounted to 129.6%.

According to Anton Fomin, business analyst at Marvel Distribution, the shortage of video cards in the Russian market, as well as high prices for them, will remain until the end of 2023. He stressed that the deficit will remain as long as the mining of cryptocurrencies brings high income. However, by the end of next year, the problems with the deliveries themselves should be resolved – the ordered video cards will have to wait not almost a year, but 10-14 weeks.

In April, it was reported that the minimum cost of computer components for mining increased by 50% in just a year, the lion’s share of the rise in price falls on video cards. To date, the price for the “minimum miner kit” has risen even more.
