On Tuesday this week, Stan Lee posted a tweet on his official Twitter tweet promoting the new Chakra collection of The Invincible NFTs.
“From supporting diversity to introducing new technologies, Stan was one step ahead of everyone. In honor of his pioneering spirit, Stan’s first Indian hero, Chakra the Invincible, will debut in his own NFT (digital art) collection from 7:30 pm 12 / 27-12 pm 12/29! Sign up: http://chakraverse.io “.
Lee died of cardiac arrest with respiratory failure at the age of 95 in November 2018. Until that time, speculation about his state of health intensified. Specifically, in 2017, he canceled two major conventions due to an undisclosed illness.
His son, Roy, called him “one of the most important myth-makers of the 20th century.” Lee’s legacy includes transforming a humble family business called Timely Publications into a multimedia juggernaut by Marvel Comics today, thanks to his creative flair.
However, some Marvel fans have condemned Lee’s use of Twitter to generate interest in the NFT chakras. In their opinion, this is “disrespect” to his name.
Chakra “Invincible” NFTs Coming Soon
Compared to Hulk, Spider-Man and Iron Man, Chakra is one of Lee’s lesser-known characters.
“Created in 2012 by legendary comic book creator and icon Stan Lee and Graphic India founder Sharad Devarajan, Chakra The Invincible tells the story of Raju Raya, a young Indian student living in Mumbai.”
Intending to uncover the secrets of human potential through science, Raju and his mentor, scientist Dr. Singh, create a suit that activates the mystical chakras of the body and releases superhuman abilities.
But Raju accidentally becomes attached to the suit. After that, he promises to use his powers to protect the city.
Chakra drop consists of three collections. The first is a loot box for the “blind” purchase of 6,880 unique generative art objects of characters from a graphic novel.
The second is an auction selling NFT animations as well as autographed lithographs by Lee for each of the seven body chakras.
Number three is an auction for a 200-page comic and an opportunity to bid on the original comic with a 3D cover.
What the fans said
POW! Entertainment, an American media company that Lee co-founded in 2001, now controls Lee’s Twitter account and character rights.
A Reddit user denounced the move, saying the Chakra NFTs collection does no credit to Lee. It is, he adds, a money theft that takes advantage of his legacy.
“I hate to see Stan Lee being used to advertise something. I mean, the person died, they just can’t let him rest in peace. Stan Lee was my idol when I was younger, and to see how this the company uses his name and creations, it is simply heartbreaking. “
But truth be told, it’s impossible to know if Lee would have signed up to it. Especially when you consider that NFTs have been increasingly appearing in the sports and entertainment industry lately.
