The administration of the resource restored access to the account only after the media decided to cover the incident
Instagram has blocked a user account under the nickname @metaverse. Writes about this The New York Times. An Australian woman turned out to be the owner of the account Tea-May Baumann. According to her, the resource blocked her page after Facebook (the company that owns Instagram) rebranded to Meta.
Baumann registered an account back in 2012. On the page, she talked about the services of her company called Metaverse Makeovers, which operates in the augmented reality industry. Shortly after the Facebook rebrand, strangers started texting Baumann. Some congratulated her, calling her a millionaire, while others warned that the resource administration would take away the account.
And so it happened. A couple of days after the rebranding, Instagram blocked her account. The reason was that Baumann impersonated another person. According to her, she tried to verify the account, but did not receive an answer.

In early December, Baumann was still able to file an appeal on Instagram demanding to restore access to the account. The administration’s response came only after The New York Times contacted Meta asking for the reason for the block. Meta itself did not provide an answer, but an Instagram representative contacted the editorial office. They said the account was “deleted by mistake” and will be restored.
We will remind, earlier in Meta announced plans to create its own metaverse. Until the end of this year alone, the company plans to spend $ 10 billion on its development. Also, the social giant will make additional investments in the coming years. The money will go to products, services and other projects of augmented and virtual reality.
However, according to experts interviewed by Reuters, Meta is trying to enrich itself at the expense of a concept that the company is not the author of. According to experts, Zuckerberg’s company is actually trying to attract attention through technologies that have been created by other people over the years.
