The decision to launch the token will be made by the Bank of Russia in 2022. Already in January next year, the regulator plans to begin the first tests of a digital currency prototype.
According to Anna Bodrova, analyst at Alpari, CBDC will be not only transparent, but also a safe tool. The expert commented on the hacker attack on one of their banks, which proved the weak security of the domestic financial sector.
Bodrova stressed that the crypto-ruble will be based on a qualitatively new payment infrastructure. In fact, we will be dealing with an ordinary “wooden” ruble, only it will become a safer instrument from a technical point of view.
The Ministry of Finance fully supports the concept of the digital ruble, developed by the Bank of Russia last year.
Ivan Chebeskov, representing the financial department, recently said that the authorities are interested in improving the banking sector. That is why they want to adopt the latest technology in transaction processing and data storage.
