Dagestan ranks first among the regions of the North Caucasus in terms of the number of revealed facts of theft of electricity for the extraction of cryptocurrencies. This was reported by representatives of the local branch of “Rosseti”.
Since the beginning of 2021, Dagenergo specialists, together with law enforcement officers, have identified 25 mining farms, which in total consumed 26 million kWh. The amount of damage from their activities amounted to over 70 million rubles.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, eight criminal cases have been opened against the violators, and the persons have been brought to administrative responsibility for 10 materials.
Rosseti Severny Kavkaz proposed the Ministry of Energy of Russia to come up with an initiative to reduce the amount of property damage caused by theft of electricity, upon reaching which criminal liability arises.
We will remind, last week the police of Dagestan announced the discovery of three large mining farms, illegally connected to the power grid. The total damage from their work amounted to over 1.8 million rubles.
