SushiSwap CTO Threatens Leaving Amid Team Disagreements

СTO of the decentralized exchange SushiSwap, Joseph DeLong did not rule out that he will leave the project in the absence of an increase in the level of compensation and empowerment of key developers.

I am going to ship Trident, and if you do not give us the autonomy to continue operations, the capability to form leadership, and increase compensation across the board I will leave.

    — Joseph Delong 🔱 (@josephdelong) December 5, 2021

“I will leave Trident [новая DEX, разработку которой ведет команда]if we don’t have more autonomy, the ability to take on leadership and increase remuneration ”, – he wrote.

Until September, the project was run by user 0xMaki. He gained control from FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried after the controversial disappearance of an anonymous founder Chef Nomi. The latter took $ 14 million from the developers’ fund, and then returned it with an apology.

Runaway chef, DeFi fever and the whale gambit: how SushiSwap raised $ 1 billion in two weeks

It turned out that 0xMaki’s departure might not have been voluntary. In a vote in the internal Telegram group, 10 out of 11 developers spoke in favor of his “expulsion”.

Should we ask @0xMaki come back to @SushiSwap core team? pic.twitter.com/cgE4jUiL6l

Along with 0xMaki, some other team members also left.

“It looks like greed has unfortunately prevailed over the community.”– explained the developer of DEX under the nickname BoringCrypto.

With the $SUSHI price already down anyway, time for a little thread about the shenanigans behind the scenes at Sushi. @0xMaki was kicked out. Most of the good devs have left. Seems like greed sadly has taken over from community. A thread:

    — BoringCrypto (@Boring_Crypto) December 4, 2021

BoringCrypto mentioned include 0xMaki, 0xKeno, LevxApp, and Mudit__Gupta.

Who are all the people in Sushi core right now, and what are their roles. Who has left and why? Pretty sure @0xMaki, @0xKeno, @LevxApp, @Mudit__Gupta are not part of Sushi right now.

    — BoringCrypto (@Boring_Crypto) December 4, 2021

CTO SushiSwap called the current situation “absurd slander”. In the thread, he disagreed with some of the statements above. DeLonge explained that the departure of a number of developers was due to their low productivity or, in the case of BoringCrypto, the inability to work in a team.

DeLonge did not rule out that he will leave the project if the community does not support the team.

“I will hand over all the accounts without conflict and do something equally successful. And you can find someone else to intimidate “, – he wrote.

I will peacefully transfer all the accounts and go and build something equally as successful and you can find someone else to bully.

    — Joseph Delong 🔱 (@josephdelong) December 5, 2021

DeLonge cited inadequate compensation of $ 300,000 per year of work. He submitted to the community a proposal for the allocation of 200,000 SUSHI ($ 1,240,000 at the time of writing) at a time to each of the 19 developers on the project.

More than two thirds out of 96 voted against.

In an official statement, the SushiSwap team admitted that they had ended their collaboration with the main developer in Asia due to his “unprofessional behavior.” In particular, he was recognized as a distributor of accusations of dismissal of 0xMaki.

As a reminder, in August, the SushiSwap team joined colleagues from Aave and Curve in an initiative to roll out DeFi globally.
