Interest in Bitcoin mining has grown, even despite a serious drawdown in the price of the asset.
Despite the fact that the bitcoin price has lost 27% compared to its historical maximum, the hash rate at the end of the last week increased by more than 7%, to 186.5 Eh / s, having risen to a maximum value since April of this year. Moreover, during the severe drawdown of the bitcoin price on December 3, this indicator jumped to the maximum value in the last seven months – 190 Eh / s.
For the first time since mid-July, the bitcoin mining difficulty indicator decreased to 22.34 trillion units in the past week, thereby creating an incentive to increase the mining of this digital asset.
At the same time, corporations are the largest Bitcoin miners in North America. Hut 8, Riot Blockchain, Marathon Digital, and HIVE Blockchain are not only increasing mining, but also increasing their own cryptocurrency holdings. So, according to data at the beginning of December, their balance sheets totaled 18.94 thousand BTC.
Riot Blockchain mined 466 BTC in November, increasing this figure from the beginning of the year to 3.387 thousand BTC. Compared to the period from January to November last year, the organization increased its capacity by 260%, operating a total of 29,095 thousand miners with a hash rate of 3 Eh / s. In total, the organization has 4.464 thousand BTC on its balance sheet. The company expects to triple its hash rate in 2022. Riot Blockchain has ordered about 3 thousand new S19XP class miners from Bitmain.
Marathon Digital mined less bitcoins in November (196 BTC) than October (417.7 BTC) due to technical work alone. Since the beginning of the year, mining has given the organization 2,712 thousand BTC, and the total number of bitcoins on the company’s balance has reached 7,649 thousand BTC. Marathon Digital last sold bitcoins on the market in October 2020 and has not sold any of its mined bitcoins since then. Her corporate hashrate is 3.2 Eh / s.
Finally, HIVE Blockchain mined 218 BTC in November, increasing the number of bitcoins on the balance to 1,584 thousand.
